Therapy is for all of us

Brenda is a Black queer licensed clinical social worker with therapeutic experience in a variety of settings. She is a firm believer in centering healing over treatment and works with clients in ways that lift up their experience at their pace while empowering them to explore and ultimately break free from patterns that cause suffering. Some of her specialties include working with race-related stress and trauma, relationship concerns, building self-esteem and self-confidence, and healing from past harms. She finds herself working most often with Black and Brown folx, the LGBTQIA community, and college students, though individuals from all walks of life are welcome into her therapy space.

Brenda’s passion for social justice and advocacy means the work is holistic and mindful of how systems of oppression impact wellbeing. She is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and anti-oppressive. Her therapeutic style prioritizes building awareness, highlighting resilience and strength, and practicing methods of connection with self and others to create balance and meaning. She uses empathic listening, unconditional positive regard, and therapeutic modalities rooted in attachment and gaining insight to help her clients move toward their authentic selves and shift from surviving to thriving.
